The rabbit hole

So I fell down a rabbit hole. I found an AMAZING blog with a mom doing Montessori at home. She also makes super cool learning toys out of felt. I just completed the solar system and now I am on to creating a HUGE project with the WORLD

I started out buying felt at Michaels. Now I want to order better felt and am having trouble figuring out what is the best kind to buy and find a website that is still in business. Now to return all the crappy felt I got at Michaels.

This project mostly started from the big kid doing a 2 day a week homeschool camp. The baby kept falling asleep in the car. So instead of trolling Facebook I decided to make something cool. The teacher saw what I was making so now I am making one to give to the school also.

Looking forward to this fun adventure.

Getting my craft on!

The past two weeks I have been working on making a quiet book out of felt. I found this amazing blogger who kindly posted the pattern.

You can see the original here.

This is what I created:

Park Time 2013

We found an absolutely lovely park in South Austin called Garrison Park. http://austinparks.org/our-parks.html?parkid=251. Last week we took our light sabers also or "light savers" as Xander calls them. They were such a huge hit that even one kid made his own and brought it today. We had 7 kids light saber dueling. Good times.

Xander showing off his moves.

Today wasn't as good of a park day as it normally is for Elizabeth. The regular crowd of girls couldn't make it, but she did meet 4 new girls and by the time we left they had made friends. She blew bubbles, climbed and played hid and seek.

We decided to be lazy tonight and go for out for Pizza Hut. Here Xander is showing off his straw paper zombie. Elizabeth brought her design your own stickers and got crafty. Both kids decided to try to empty the sticker vending machine. I am sure tomorrow will be filled with princess and angry birds sticker collage creations.

Welcome to Austin May 2013

Today we played tourist and visited the Zilker Botanical Gardens.

They had a special exhibit of fairy houses we just had to see.

http://www.zilkergarden.org

It was a beautiful garden plus a place with historic buildings. There were pretty flowers, herbs, vegetables and natural vegetation all mixed in. There were beds set up to show hearty drought plants as well as full sun vegetation. It is a fantastic place that we only saw a fraction of. They have educational things much like the pioneer arts settlement in Florida. The old buildings also reminded me of the PAS, but it's better!! Much the way everything seems to be in Texas. We will definitely be going back.

Everywhere we go they have cool shirts!!

There were these rocks all through the place that had a horizontal strip in the middle.

Edible plant beds!

Really mom? We are done with the happy.

Ok a kinda happy face picture.
